CLAN DENNY is a range of independantly bottled Scotch wiskies from Douglas McGibbon & Co., selecting fine casks from distilleries across Scotland. The range features limited single cask bottlings of single malt and single grain whiskies typically non-chill filtered and without addes colouring. This CAOL ILA is One of 417 bottles distilled in October 2012 and bottled in September 2021 that matured 8 years in a refill hogshead. Tasting notes: Immediately saline, maritime and obviously Islay-based on its briny nos. Incredibly sweet as the gently smoked palate opens building to chimney soot, coal dust iodine and damp bonfire-based ashy style, with archetypal peated barley showing through late. That ash, the soot, the smoke and its phenols all show through in the long creosoted finish.
